Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the validity of the proposed Screening Test of Early Language Development(STELD) in Korean children(age 1;6~3;11). STELD is the screening test composed of the vocabulary checklist and emergent literacy list. The STELD and Sequenced Language Scale for Infants(SELSI) were applied to 37 normal children who were divided into four age groups. The correlation analysis between the two tests were performed for the concurrent validity. Significantly high correlations were obtained between the two tests(STELD and SELSI). It was suggested that the STELD is a valid tool for measuring the children in early stage of language development.
